It’s not a sure bet that World Series of Poker winner Jamie Gold will get to keep his entire $12 million prize.
A Nevada judge has frozen $6 million of it after Gold was sued.
Bruce Leyser alleged that Gold agreed to split his winnings in exchange for Leyser helping him find celebrities to play while wearing the "Bodog" label of an Internet gambling site.
Bodog paid Gold’s $10,000 entry fee. Leyser said he kept up his end of the bargain by getting "Scooby Doo" star Matthew Lillard and comedian Dax Shepard to wear the brand.
In his lawsuit, Leyser said he has a voicemail recording from Gold just before the final round in which Gold promises that he will pay Leyser his half.
A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 1 |
